Furnitures

Frans' order of furniture finally arrived! You have several tables, chairs, benches, bed and armoir for Frans' bedroom, and even an oven for you kitchen. Let help Frans put all these into proper use.

Furnitures is a daily term used by human. The computer programs (like NWN2) have no concept of furnitures. As far as NWN2 is concerned, these are all [[Placeables]]. Since these are placeables, everything you have learned in the Placeables section will work, including the "Rotate Object 45o Right/Left".

So go ahead and decorate the inside of Frans' Inn to your heart's content. Here's how I decorated the place:

Placeable Effects

In this section we are going to look into Placeable Effects, such as fire glow (light source), and smoke effect.

There are may prefab effects that came with the game. With more expansions coming our way (like the Mask of Betrayer), there will be even more that'll be available to the modders' community.)

Making a Fireplace

  1. Find the Fireplace model, and place it in the center of the east wall, somewhere in Grid #8.
  2. Find the Placeable Effect of Fireplace and try to put it in the fireplace (where the woods are burning). You will find this nearly impossible. Because the Fireplace is such a large object, it will be in the way when you try to manuever the effect into place, like behind the grate.
  3. Make use of the Show/Hide to toggle the Fireplace{02} on or off. This keep the Fireplace out of your way, as you manipulate the position of the Fireplace effect.

(The developers of NWN2 have cleverly separated the "Placeables" from "Placeable Effects"!]

Alternative Method

I prefer this aletrnative method, because I don't have to toggle between Show/Hide. The trick is to place the Effect first, followed by the Placeable. Like this:

1. Place the Fireplace effect somewhere toward the center of the east wall in Grid #8.

2. Raise the Fireplace effect from the ground using "ALT-Left mouse button".

3. Place the Fireplace{02} model in front of the Fireplace effect. Slide the Fireplace{02} into position, making sure that you can see the glow of the fire through the grate.

That's it! Do you find this method easier than the "Show/Hide" toggle method?

Making a Lamp

  1. Find the effect for lamp/torch.
