You may be wondering about some of the buttons found on the Environment Toolbar. This page shows you what they do, but bear in mind that NWN2 Toolset is "contextual", meaning some buttons will only be active when the objects uses that feature. (See the Section on Skeletons, below)

If you see grid lines all over the ground, the "Grid" has been turned on by default.
Depends on your preference, you may want to show/hide the grid lines by clicking on the «Grid» button. Clicking on the Grid button will turn off the "Grid Lines". Note that the Grid button is no longer "selected" (i.e. without a blue outline).
Other meshes that may be "toggled" On/Off in the same manner include: "Surface Mesh", "Baked" (i.e. Walkmesh), "Wireframe", and "Skeletons".
The «Occlusion Grid» does not work the same way between the Exterior and Interior area. The Occlusion Grid (i.e. a boundary box of the playable area) in the Exterior environment is "white" and it cannot be turned off. If you have created a 4X4 area, you will see a White boundary box that marked off a 4X4 grid, it is within this area that you build your playable area. Your Player Character will never be able to venture beyond the White boundary (and that's the Occlusion Grid).
The Occlusion Grid of an Interior Area is "red" and it can be turned OFF. Meaning, if you click on the «Occlusion Grid» button, you can show/hide the Red Boundary Box (see image below).
This button shows you the Mesh of the Exterior landscape and the Interior flooring.
After you have created you module, you may want to edit your "walkmesh" to make sure there are no crevices and holes between walls that may "trap" your Player Character as he/she walk around exploring. NWN2 introduced the Bake concept to "bake" your landscape model to solidify the ground, and allow "walking". The Walkmesh can be edited in great details to restrict walking "paths".
Once you baked the module, you can use the «Bake» button to reveal and review the walkable areas. Any area that is impassable to your Player Character will marked by the color "yellow" (outdoor) or blue (indoor).
Note: Personally I feel the «Bake» button should be renamed «Walkmesh» to reduce confusion. The word "Bake" makes you think you can click on it to "bake" an area. In fact, it is only a toggle to show/hide the baked area.
This button shows you the Wireframe of the placeables (including interior walls).
I mentioned earlier that the Toolbars in NWN2 Toolset are "contextual". One prime example is the «Skeletons» button. Since placeables such as buildings, trees, and chests will have no "skeleton" in them, there will be nothing to show, and you may think the button is "broken".
The Skeletons button will only wonderfully on a placeable that has a "skeleton" (more specifically, the creature placeables). If you zoom in on a creature such as a human fighter, and turn on the "Skeletons", you will get something like a X-ray vision.
