The Story So Far

Condition #1: Speak to Frans before speaking with Bennay.

Event #1: Investigate Missing Food.

Frans has a problem, he thinks his hired servant, Bennay is stealing from him. Since the PC looked the adventurous sort, he has decided to ask the PC to help investigate the matter. Only when the PC agreed to do so, will the PC be able to speak with Bennay without drawing her ire.


Condition #2: Get food supplies from basement.

Event #2: Reward Player if Condition #2 was met.

Having spoke to Bennay, you realized that the missing food was due to the presence of rats in the basement. Since Bennay was afraid of the rats, she was not able to prepare food as she normally would. She asked the PC to help her obtain some food supply (in exchange of some "rewards") so that she could perform her duty satisfactorily.

Since Bennay was a hired hand herself, it was unlikely that she would reward the player with much gald. Instead, it is more logical for Bennay to reward a player with eXperience Points (XPs).

Motivational Hook

We have already created the two basements (old and new), and placed some supplies into a number of crates in the basements. Next, we are going to set up a mini quest that a player can complete within first 5 minutes of the game. This should act as a motivational hook to keep the player interested and have a sense of fulfillment => an important aspect of game psychology).


Practice No.6

  1. Create the scripts needed for Bennay to check that the player has brought her the food supplies she needed from the basements.

  2. If and when the items were found in the player's inventory, Bennay will bestow upon the Player her "reward" of 100 XPs.

  3. The player will report to Bennay about the presence of rats in the Basement. (Create the conversation.)

  4. Bennay became scared when she heard that you have found some extra large rats in the Basement. She asked you to alert Frans about the situation. (Create the conversation.)

  5. Frans will then asked the player to investigate, and if possible, get rid of these rats. (Create the conversation.)

  6. Plan out the next few scenes, and see what kind of rewards the player can get from doing this dirty work.

  7. You can use the Script Generator to help you dish out appropriate rewards: e.g., gald, jewelery, trinkets, weapons, magic items,..., etc.

  8. The Player might need a better weapon (say, a +1 short sword) if he/she was to deal with Crimon. Frans may have such a sword to loan to the Player.

Use your imagination and plan accordingly...
