If this is the very first area you create in a module, you will be presented with a red "compass" on a green field.
IMPORTANT: The compass-looking circle is in fact the Start Location of your new module. This is the position where your Play Character (or avatar) will spawn when you first "enter" the game world. When you are putting down new placeables in the game world, make sure you do not cover the start compass!
The arrow head will, by default, point to the South. This is the direction your avatar will face when he/she enters the game world.
You can change the direction your avatar faces by first selecting the Starting Point (a green box will now surround the compass), and clicking on either «Rotate Object 45o Left» or «Rotate Object 45o Right» to turn the direction of the arrow.
Should you become confused where the compass is pointing, you can always click on the «SHOW NORTH» button to reveal the direction of true North.
The same compass after you have clicked on Rotate Object 45o Right once.
Changing the direction of the "Starting Point" may be useful in some instances. For example, you may want the player to "enter the game" and come face-to-face with a certain "object" (see below), such as the Mission Giver. (A Mission Giver is considered to be a key character in a video that provide the player with a goal or objective (for a quest). Typically, once you fulfilled the quest, you would return to the mission giver and claim you prize, or experience point. In World of Warcraft (WoW), mission givers are easier identified as the NPCs with "?" and "!" over their heads.
Note: There is no real people running around in a video game, no matter how realistic the NPC may react. All NPCs, monsters, furniture, trees and rivers, and rocks, etc. are OBJECT!
